tigoboANIMATION is a french independent animation studio founded more than 10 years by Reno Armanet and Flavie Darchen. We met them in San Francisco a few weeks ago. They were ending a two month road-trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco, CA.
tigoboANIMATION studio creates socially conscious high-end animation films and documentaries. They are currently working on a long-movie project, Symhio, that is said to be extremely beautiful.
Reno Armanet and his team created a first short version of the movie to give a glimpse into his universe and what could be done. They also partnered with Sculpteo to create a 3D figurine of the main character Symhio that they showed in November at the CTN Animation Expo of Burbank, CA.

The team shared with us how having a physical figurine which is the exact copy of the movie character really made a difference in communicating their ideas to potential investors and partners.
Symhio is inspired by multiple travels and rich experiences of the studio. The team has spend time in Bamako, in Armenia, in Columbia and in Chicago, USA. They developped a concept called “For each problem, a solution“. The idea: let kids from all over the world describe their life and the main problems they and their families are facing, and then find solutions by creating animation films to share their ideas and hopes. tigoboANIMATION is involved at each stage of the project: from filming the kids to giving animation workshops to helping them create and share the solutions.
tigoboANIMATION is now at the funding stage of the Symhio project and is preparing an event for animation professionals that is expected to be held in Angoulême, France, in a few months. They also plan on using more 3D printing for preparing the next exhibitions and workshops.
