Particule 14 and Sculpteo Collaboration: Highlight on Normal Studio and Fx Ballery

Posted By Sculpteo on Apr 18, 2012 | 0 comments

Particule 14 and Sculpteo have chosen to explore together the potential for diversity of 3D printing technology. This collaboration resulted in nine exclusive designs entirely conceived with 3D printing and presented at Materials Matters 2 at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

All nine designs are available in the Sculpteo store of Particule 14 and in the Sculpteo app.

Let’s highlight today two of the nine creations conceived by the designers of Particule 14.

Cup by Normal Studio

The Cup is a 3D printed creation of Normal Studio made of ceramics and entirely perforated. It’s both a complex and light piece that mixes the round shape of the cup and a dynamic grid. The Cup is a ceramic piece that can only be made through 3D printing technology because of it’s complexity.

Normal Studio is an industrial design studio made up of Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï that has received numerous awards since its creation in 2006. Their limited series are published by Ymer&Malta gallery. They worked with brands such as Tolix, Tefal, Eno, Schneider Electric at bringing simple and joyful creations with a strong focus on user end.

Katiska Lamp by Fx Balléry

The Katiska Lamp is a lightly perforated piece that lets a soft light reflect off the surface. LEDs are like trapped into the voluminous lamp. Katiska Lamp’s design has been conceived as a one-off, optimizing both unique aesthetic and technical possibilities of 3D printing.

Fx Balléry is a French designer graduated from the Royal College of Art in London, working with luxury companies such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté or Hermès. He is the creator behind Goodbye Edison, a French manufacturing company of contemporary lamps proposing new light sources. He is experimenting with LEDs and non-traditional lighting.

The nine designs of Particule 14 are available for 3D printing on the free Sculpteo iPhone/iPad app and in the Sculpteo store of Particule 14.
